ROCK August 2026 Newsletter

Rejoice Always! Pray without Ceasing! Give Thanks!

Dear Friends and Partners in Ministry,

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess. 5:16-18)

Praising God and thanking Him for…

- Cynthia (Bachelor of Commerce), Gideon (Tourism Management), and Samuel (Bachelor of Education) setting out this month on their new adventure as young adults

- the funds for the 300 laying chickens and barn, build to start this September (another project subsidizing the ministry)

- the start of the final school term of 2026 which runs from August 24-October 23

- a team of three from Alaska, led by Michael Sliwa, heading out to serve at ROCK Ministries October 1-16

- a young adult in Alaska willing to volunteer to help Cindy with the fund raising and other ROCK responsibilities

- intercessory prayer nights starting up once-a-month in our home to see “God’s kingdom come and will be done…”

- for the funds that have come in for the school building

Praising God and asking Him for…

- unity among the staff at ROCK, and all Christ’s Body

- a passionate pursuit of God and growing love for His Word among all of us

- an understanding of Christ’s deep love for us and others

- the spiritual climate of Malava to be shifted to one of great joy and trust in the Lord as well as a heart for the broken

- strength, encouragement, and wisdom for Teresa even when resignations come and children go astray

- Moses, and other young adults, to have a deep understanding of their value and purpose

- the remaining amount needed for the school building so that 7th grade, the start of “junior secondary school”, can be added to Malava Christian Academy in 2027

- the monthly amount needed to bring our general funds up to where they should be as, over the next five years, the projects become well established

Thank you for praying for us and with us.

Grace and peace, Kyon and Cindy

Prayer and Praise!

“Prayer becomes the Christian’s greatest privilege. Why? Prayer places the intercessor on the front line of spiritual battle and conquest.” (Destined for the Throne by Billheimer)

Dear Friends, I really look forward to these opportunities each month to connect with you and share what is happening at ROCK Ministries in Malava so that you can join us in the vital ministry of prayer and praise! As I have been studying about prayer, I am becoming more convinced of John Wesley’s statement that “God will do nothing but in answer to prayer.”

Join us in celebrating with Pelah, Teresa and Victor’s daughter, who just graduated with a Bachelor of Business Information Technology. We also received the news of three placements: Samuel to the Bachelor of Education (Arts) with special needs, Cynthia to Bachelor of Commerce, and Gideon to Kitale Polytecnic for Tourism management. All three will begin their programs between August 15-30. We are so proud of them. Pray as they embark on this next part of life’s journey that they will continue to seek the Lord.

The secondary students have all gone back to school since the riots of last month, but these events have shaken the country and caused a reassessment of how youth are being raised. With Teresa’s guidance through the Holy Spirit, and our God-honoring, loving teachers and staff, ROCK and Malava Christian Academy will continue training children to love the Lord with all their hearts and to love their neighbor as themselves. This is why we feel convinced that continuing to grow the school is essential. The new building to accommodate grade seven in 2027 will be started November 1st. $47,000 of the $110,000 has been raised, praise God! Please share with your friends and family this beautiful opportunity to become a source of hope, healing, and restoration for families through the knowledge of Christ’s deep love and the empowerment of education.

God is blessing our projects to help the ministry one day become more self-supporting for the day-to-day operations. Our cow herd has grown from three to seven in the last two years, and the money for the purchase of the 300 chickens and barn came in a few weeks ago.
